  • Blender
  • Fine mesh sieve

Ingredients

  • 8 English cucumbers
  • ½ cup lime juice, or 1 cup of lemon juice
  • 1 green apple, cored and chopped
  • Honey, sugar, or agave syrup (optional, I did not use any.)
  • Fruit, to garnish
  • 4 cups ice, (optional)

Preparation

1. Picar

  • Chopping cucumbers.
    Cut the cucumber in halves lengthwise, and with a teaspoon scoop out the seeds and discard them. Chop the cucumbers.
    Chop the apples (discard the seeds in the center).

2. Combining ingredients

  • Combining ingredients.
    Combine cucumbers, lemon or lime juice, and apple and water in the blender vase.

3. Blending

  • Blending.
    Blend until it's completely liquified and there are no solids left.

4. Serving

  • Serving cucumber juice.
    Pour into 4 glasses.
    Add ice (optional). You can also return it to the blender to crush the ice or make it a slush.
    Garnish with fruit.

Top tips

  • Strain: If you don't mind the pulp, you don't need to strain it.
  • Choosing cucumbers: English cucumbers have thinner skin, a milder flavor, and fewer seeds. Standard cucumbers are larger, but have harder seeds and a more bitter flavor.
  • To peel or not to peel: If you can only find standard cucumbers, peel them and discard the seeds. If you're using English cucumbers, I don't think it's necessary to peel them. Standard cucumbers, however, have a more bitter skin, so I suggest peeling them.

Variations

You can use a combination of pineapple juice and lemon juice. It's lovely.

You can decorate with lime slices, starfruit slices, or orange slices. Or whatever you have at hand.

Add a few fresh mint leaves for a different and very refreshing taste.
